By the grace of God, I haven’t had to commute to work in over 5 years, but every now and then, I’ll have to beast the crazy traffic in Dallas for work or to run an errand. When I’m not jamming out to some of my favorite playlists on Apple Music, you can always catch me listening to podcasts.
I have subscribed to a ton of podcasts (so many that it’s taking up too much storage), but I have 6 favorites that I listen to frequently that I think all Millennials should know about. These podcasts are perfect to listen to while commuting to work, running errands, or completing assignments at work. If you have any other podcasts that you love that I did not list, drop the names below!
1. Millennial Lov3: Sex, Love & I’m Selfish AF!
This podcast is the newest addition to my collection, and it’s so good that I never forget to tune in each week. Millennial Lov3: Sex, Love & I’m Selfish AF! is hosted by Michele “Miché” Haley, Justin August, and Cara “Cara D.” Davis. They are three Black Millennials who discuss the complexities of friendships, relationships, and building your career. This podcast is not only relatable, but it’s also enjoyable AF too.
2. The Read
Hosted by my faves Kid Fury and Crissle, The Read is a weekly one-hour (or more) podcast that discusses Black Excellence, current events or people that are a hot mess, and everything in between. Towards the middle of the podcast, they will take listener letters and will hilariously answer each of them, and finally at the end, they will give their “read” for someone or something that deserves a good criticism. If you need a laugh, download this podcast. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
3. On One with Angela Rye
Every week, Angela keeps us informed on the most pressing, current political and racial issues. As Huffington Post once said, her podcast is for the “Woke and Sophistaratchet” and we definitely agree.
4. Side Hustle Pro: Female Entrepreneurs
Each week Nicaila chats with Black, female entrepreneurs and gets the gems on how they took their business from “passion project to profitable business.” Although this podcast is geared towards women, I’m confident that any person (man or woman) can learn from Nicaila and her entrepreneur guests. If you need a boost of inspiration for your startup or side hustle, Side Hustle Pro is a must listen.
5. Myleik Teele’s Podcast
Myleik is an entrepreneur (she is the founder of curlBox) and through her podcast, she teaches us business lessons that she has learned over the years and other career insights. She also speaks on self-improvement and self-care, and dishes out tips for personal growth. From time to time, Myleik has guests on the show and they will either give you major personal/professional growth tips, or will share stories from their business journey. Myleik’s podcast is a definite listen and should be in your playlist collection.
6. Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations
Who doesn’t love Oprah? Yes, I know – everyone does!
Just like the Oprah you know and love, Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations podcast not only inspires you but educates you too. Listeners can gain insight and inspiration from some of the world’s top thought leaders and thinkers. Each week, the podcasts features previously aired conversation between Oprah and guests that appear on her show SuperSoul Sunday.
