Meet Some Of The Creatives Apart Of A New Campaign That’s Shining Light On Local Entrepreneurs

The IS THIS MIC ON Campaign kicks of August 4th, 2017

Laci McKinney, founder of The People’s Voice PR Agency, is launching her new revolutionary campaign that all creatives and new entrepreneurs can appreciate. McKinney’s campaign, IS THIS MIC ON (ITMO), kicks off on August 4th and will celebrate and amplify the voices of local entrepreneurs. The ITMO campaign will provide the entrepreneurs a chance to tell the world “why their voice deserves to be heard,” while sharing their story, and allowing the world to connect with them. The ITMO campaign will be demonstrated through a visual story on Instagram on August 4th and you will be able to learn more about each entrepreneur on McKinney’s blog.

The ITMO campaign will feature over 20 entrepreneurs residing in the Dallas area. Each entrepreneur embodies FEARLESSNESS, has undeniable passion, and are pursuing it through their individual efforts. They have an unapologetic attitude and believe in encouraging up and coming creatives to defy the status quo and be true to themselves.

Recently, we were able to catch up with a few of the entrepreneurs and learned more about their company, and why their brand deserves to be heard.

1. Brandon E. Miller

What is your company/brand?

My brand is “Brandon E. Miller” (riveting I know), but it’s most recognizable as the “BE Great” Brand.

What was your inspiration behind your company/brand?

I’ve always had this mentality of being successful, more specifically, being the greatest at everything that I set my mind to – work, school, entrepreneurial ventures, community involvements, you name it. Growing up I was involved in martial arts and always admired Muhammad Ali not only for his athletic accomplishments but his impact on the culture and propagating change. It was honestly coupling these two aspects of my life that inspired the brand; the fact that my first and middle initial spell out “BE” and the fact that I’ve always told others to “Be Great” were added benefits.

How does your company/brand benefit today’s Millennials?

The brand is all about motivation and empowerment, about inspiring you to realize your uniqueness and passions, and helping you to make your dreams a reality as efficiently as possible. One of the key aspects of our generation is how driven and entrepreneurial we are, and that fact that we are selfish when it comes to our personal development and achieving our goals. Society’s connotation of that is often portrayed as negative but I think it is a great thing that we care about our personal development and controlling our own greatness. The “BE Great” movement is built on building your personal brand, developing your entrepreneurship ventures, pursuing your passions, and navigating your life from the driver’s seat.

What is one thing that separates your company/brand from your competitors? What is your ‘WOW’ factor?

I always say, I want my brand to bring the “Diddy Element” to your branding, that is – focus, collaboration, and fun. There are countless empowerment, entrepreneurial, and personal development brands that are valuable, but deflated in a sense. You should be Diddy Bopping your way through life, Harlem Shaking through the pressure, focusing on your own lane, and owning your greatness.

I’d like to say the “BE Great” brand comes at you from all angles and inspires greatness not only in your entrepreneurial endeavors, but also your corporate life, personal life, through fitness, and through travel – it’s in your face, it’s relatable, it’s current, and it’s collaborative.

2. Jordan Gill

What is your company/brand?

My company is The Kolada Group and we help business owners simplify their operations.

What was your inspiration behind your company/brand?

All my clients kept saying the same thing….”I can’t leave my business to go on vacation because it will implode. I just want to sit on the beach and sip pina coladas.” Thus The Kolada Group was born – to make sure more business owners sip pina coladas on the beach 🙂

How does your company/brand benefit today’s Millennials?

My company benefits Millennials to not support the old age thinking “traveling and vacations are for retirees.” We can own our own businesses AND have financial and time freedom. It is possible.

What is one thing that separates your company/brand from your competitors? What is your ‘WOW’ factor?

Pure speed. Most people will tell you it will make weeks or even months to get systems up and running. I have 2 packages – 4 hours or 2 days. We like to knock it out.

3. Brittany Giles

What is your company/brand?

My company is Fit by Brit, and we promote fitness, health, and wellness.

What was your inspiration behind your company/brand?

As a full time teacher, I’ve learned the importance of a commitment to something greater than myself. After becoming a mother to my beautiful daughter Peyton in 2014, I became aware of how hard it is to balance work, life, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  It’s difficult, but not impossible.

How does your company/brand benefit today’s Millennials?

I’ve always been conscious about my eating habits, but three years ago I started on an amazing fitness journey that has now led to the creation of my own company. FitxBrit (pronounced “Fit by Brit”) was built on my belief that to create lasting change I had to have a motive.  One that lasted beyond the seasonal goal of a “summer body” or a 10-pound cosmetic shift.  I had a desire to change the way I looked at fitness for life. Weekly goal-oriented meal preparation, a desire to eat smarter instead of depriving myself, the natural high that comes with making better choices for myself and my family while simply saying “NO” to a “jiggly belly” allowed me to build the foundation of this brand.

What is one thing that separates your company/brand from your competitors? What is your ‘WOW’ factor?

I think what separates me from the next in the oversaturated fitness realm is my brutal honesty. People are always telling me how my instastories motivate them due to their raw nature. There is no one size fits all approach to fitness and once people recognize that we are all individually designed and there isn’t a tea, shake, or belt that can “fix” you, we can really learn how to be the best version of ourselves. It’s up to us to use trial and error and try to find “whole foods” to nourish our mind, body, and soul. To stop comparing, and allowing self-doubt to take over our lives. That’s the message that I am ultimately trying to get out and that is what I hop I am portraying on all of my platforms.

5. Jaren Collins

What is your company/brand?

My company is JCi Creatives and it is a creative services firm that specializes in photography, video production and graphic design.

What was the inspiration behind your company/brand?

I started JCi Creatives in college. In my sophomore year, I snagged an internship with a local, black owned publishing company as a very entry level graphic designer. During my time, I grew frustrated at the underrepresentation of African-Americans in the media and stock images for design. A simple google search for “beautiful black people” wouldn’t cut it for my needs, so I decided to purchase a camera and create my own narrative. Since then, I’ve been helping other people find their voice in their brand.

How does your company/brand benefit today’s Millennials?

Today’s Millennials are business owners. They are self-starters. They are tastemakers and change agents. My business helps Millennials craft their narrative and tell their story. It’s my purpose in life to showcase my peers at their best. I love being able to uplift Millennials and empower them for the best through my craft and talents. It is my hope that I can do this for others forever.

What is one thing that separates your company/brand from your competitors? What is your ‘WOW’ factor?

I do what it takes to go the extra mile for my clients. I am always coming with ideas and proposing new concepts. I lend my expertise, that has been created through over 8 years of experience, to every project. I take lead from my corporate america experience and use the tools of success I learned there to become an a better businessman to all. And while I am not perfect, I am always working to get better. I am dedicated to finding success for myself and others. That is my “Wow.”
